Churchill Students take part in the HE+ programme, funded by Cambridge University
Our HE+ programme recommenced this week with a meeting that invited students from 10 schools across the South West.
The HE+ programme is funded by Cambridge University and is aimed at students from the state sector who have the potential to make strong applications to the University of Cambridge and other research-intensive universities.
It is intended to provide these students with activities to stretch and challenge them academically and provide them with the advice and guidance that they need to make competitive applications to higher education.
Sixteen of our students participated and were challenged to tackle questions from the Thinking Skills Assessment (of Oxford University) followed by group tasks, which let them work with the students from the other schools.
At the end of the day, students were provided with an A3 piece of black card to take home and prepare a 5-minute presentation on a topic of their choice that’s based on their super-curricular reading. They present to the other students at the next meeting in March - which we’re very much looking forward to seeing.
Thank you to The Kings of Wessex Academy for hosting the event.
