Churchill Chess Challenge

Churchill A came joint second in the battle of the A teams and Churchill B won their B team section. 

The squad included James Perry, Tom Evans, Gigi Ionescu, Bryn Chiswell Jones, Isaac Joyce, Peter Briffitt, Adam Barringer, Jaden Wynter and Tomos Parsons - all of whom played extremely well. 

Special mentions go to James for making his debut on board 1 of the A team, Adam for winning four out of four games and to Jaden and Tomos for making their debuts in the Churchill Team Squad. 

The A team got off to a shaky start losing to Sir Thomas Rich but came back well to beat Clifton High, Kings Gloucester and Cotham.

To demonstrate the depth of talent we have in the squad the B team had wins against Kings Bruton, Clevedon, Hanham Woods Academy and a draw against Denmark High.

All of this was achieved with six Churchill Squad members being unavailable, which further demonstrates the depth of good players. 

Next up for Churchill Chess is an away fixture to Millfield in the semi-final of the South West Regional Knockout.
