Academy Sports Rundown: 25th April 2025

Term 5 has started strong with Cricket fixtures. See how our teams got on below.

The U13’s Cricket season kicks off with the Somerset County Cup

On Wednesday afternoon, our U13s Cricket team had their first match of the season in the Somerset County Cup against Backwell School. Backwell opened up the battle, scoring 94 runs and the Academy were able to take nine wickets with some impressive bowling and fielding.

We started strong in the second half with our opening batters, but sadly, it wasn’t quite enough to secure the victory as we finished the game with 79 runs.  It was a fantastic team effort with plenty of positives to build on for the rest of the season.

U15’s Cricket team rolls into the next round of the Somerset State Schools Cup

Thursday afternoon saw our U15s Cricket team take on Clevedon School in the first round of the Somerset State Schools Cup. It was a fabulous all round team performance, securing the victory and progressing to the next round.

Restricting Clevedon to 46/9, eight bowlers used everyone with catches and runs. The bowler of the day was Matt, taking 3/3 off his two overs. The Academy took seven overs to knock off the runs, losing just one wicket.

Congratulations to the team on a great start to the season, and a big thank you to Churchill CC for hosting the match!
