Year 8 - 10 students join a Sixth Form English lesson

As part of the English High Attainers scheme for Years 8-10, one opportunity that six students jumped at this week was the chance to sit in on a Year 13 A-Level Literature lesson.

After being given only a few days to familiarise themselves with Shakespeare's Hamlet, Sophie Thrupp, Rosie Clifton, Emelia Hill-Adams, Ella Weeks, Izzy Gilbert-Avison and George Brown all joined Mr Grimmett's class.

Partnering with Year 13 students, they excelled in their reading of character parts, evaluating Shakespeare's intentions, and considering everything from the crippling emotional burden on a young prince, to the consequences of murder in the afterlife.

It was a pleasure to experience the younger students' articulate perspectives, and the Year 13s were definitely given a run for their money!
