Spring Concert 2024
Performing to a packed Academy Hall audience, our talented musicians provided a feast of musical entertainment in our Spring Concert last night.
This concert featured many of the Academy’s music ensembles, as well as solos from our Churchill Music Young Musician of the Year winners.
The Big Orchestra opened the concert by performing the F1 and Doctor Who theme tunes. Both performances were accompanied by film clips and the Doctor Who rendition featured a special appearance of the theremin, an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the musician, which by performed by Zack Slater.
The concert also brought stunning performances from the KS3 Choir who sang Ezekiel’s Wheel, the Concert Band who rocked Copacabana and Beauty and the Beast, as well as from some of our smaller ensembles, including String Group, Flute and Clarinet Group, Brass Monkeys, Guitar Club, Jazz Band, Year 12 Band and The Atomic Youth.
Soul Band concluded the concert in fine style with their take on How Long by Ace, As by Stevie Wonder and Inside Out by Dyssey.
The whole concert was an inspiration to us all and a wonderful welcome to spring.
Congratulations to all the performers on a superb concert and thanks to all who supported the evening backstage and front of house!
