Future Chef: Chicken gyros and tomato salsa takes the gold!

Twelve of our talented students took part in this year’s highly anticipated Future Chef competition, showcasing their culinary skills in a contest that highlighted creativity and time management. The competition, which challenged students to prepare two portions of a main meal within an hour on a £5 budget, saw impressive dishes from students in Years 9, 10, and 11.

The standard of cooking was exceptionally high, making it a tough decision for the judges. Ultimately, the winner was Isla, a Year 10 student, who impressed everyone with her delicious chicken gyros, tzatziki, and tomato salsa. She stood out for her well-balanced flavours and excellent presentation.

Second place was awarded to Rowan, who narrowly missed the top spot by just 0.6 of a mark. His dish of chicken souvlaki, homemade flatbread, and Greek salad earned high praise for its taste and texture.

Both Isla and Rowan will advance to the local heat at City of Bristol College on Thursday 14th November, where they will compete against other talented young chefs.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who participated, as well as to the parents who supported the event by providing ingredients and encouraging the students throughout the preparation process.
