Academy Expands Access to Extracurricular Activities Through Star Scheme
In a continued effort to improve access to extracurricular activities, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our partnerships to support our students' involvement in sports and other activities.
The Academy has a long-standing collaboration with "FEES Fund," a registered charity that provides grants to help children and young people participate in extracurricular activities. We have now added a new partner, the "Star Scheme," to further enhance opportunities for students.
The Star Scheme is a charity dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of young people who have faced adverse childhood and community experiences (ACEs), come from lower-income families, struggle with mental health issues, or have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The organisation uses rugby as a tool for engagement, providing a supportive environment where young people and their families can build confidence and resilience.
Through partnerships with several local rugby clubs, the Star Scheme ensures that coaches and officials are trained to effectively support young participants. These clubs work closely with families to eliminate barriers to participation, such as the cost of equipment, transportation, or training. The goal is to ensure every child has what they need to enjoy the game, with a focus on providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
We’re encouraging parents and guardians to learn more about these initiatives. Those who think they know a student who could benefit from support through Fee's Fund or the Star Scheme can contact, Mr Davies, GRD@churchill-academy.org for more information.
