Whilst at Churchill I have enjoyed taking on a variety of roles including Head of Girls PE, Year 7 Pastoral Support Worker and now Head of Lancaster House. I am bursting with pride at being offered the opportunity to be the first ever Head of Lancaster House!

My background

After finishing my undergraduate degree at Southampton University, I started my teaching career in Bristol before moving to South London where I worked as a PE teacher in a Catholic school for 3 years. Despite not being catholic myself, the approach of developing students as good, kind and moral citizens has really stuck with me and I have carried that approach forward in my career, modelling this as much as I can. I wholeheartedly believe if we can nurture students to be the best they can as individuals in society then their academic successes will follow suit. Whilst at this school I took on the role of Head of House and my passion for pastoral care and student wellbeing has developed from here. 

From London I moved to Churchill Academy to be closer to my family, having been brought up in Bristol. Whilst at Churchill I have enjoyed taking on a variety of roles including Head of Girls PE, Year 7 Pastoral Support Worker and now Head of Lancaster House. I am bursting with pride at being offered the opportunity to be the first ever Head of Lancaster House.

My vision for the House centres around the concept and belief that each and every student in my care should experience and feel a sense of belonging and pride, coupled with having a desire to do all that they can to contribute to the success of our school community. I aim to know as much as I can about our students so that I can celebrate the personal attributes and unique contributions of each and every member of Lancaster House. After all, we will be a team and every member of the team has an important role to play. The Lancaster team and I endeavour to build a culture where students want to take positive risks to try new things and feel that they are respected, treated with kindness and are accepted and supported. In a year that has thrown so much at us and our young people it is so important that we all work together to support each other and I hope that all families of Lancaster students feel that they can approach any member of the team for support when needed.
