Churchill Academy & Sixth Form

Wider Curriculum

At Churchill Sixth Form, we recognise that your experiences beyond the classroom are just as valuable as the academic learning within it. That's why we take pride in our extensive extracurricular opportunities, setting us apart from other post-16 providers.

Specialist Tutor Programme (STP)

You’ll have dedicated time to expand your knowledge and skills through our Specialist Tutor Programme. We’ll equip you for life after Sixth Form, offering regular career talks and tailored support for your next steps - whether that’s university, apprenticeships, or employment.

The Specialist Tutor Programme is built into your weekly activity programme so that everyone has the same opportunity to get involved, although there are plenty of ways to extend the programme further through leadership and super-curricular learning.

Each Tutor Group focuses on a specific theme, led by a dedicated Specialist Tutor who will guide and support you throughout your Sixth Form journey and onto your next steps. Whether you're an aspiring musician, a future politician, a physicist, an economist, or an environmentalist, you'll receive expert support and have access to a wide range of enriching super-curricular activities to help you pursue your passion.

The programme is built upon the belief that you need tutors who are specialists in the areas you are starting to focus upon as you progress through Sixth Form. The tutors can offer you advice and guidance specific to your areas of interest and help you create a programme that helps to take your learning outside the normal classroom experience.

Impact Groups

Our Impact Groups ensure that every student can make a positive impact within the Sixth Form, the Academy, or the local community. With time, resources, and support, you can lead meaningful projects of your choice. These experiences will help you develop leadership skills as you work in teams, plan initiatives, engage with the community, and mentor younger students.

The impact you make is up to you; sixth formers pick each group, and therefore they change each year to reflect your interests.

“Impact groups give us a chance to improve our Sixth Form and help improve the local community”

Each group is given the time, resources, and support to plan and deliver projects of their choice. Through your involvement in these groups, you will develop your leadership skills as you work in teams, discuss ideas, plan projects, deliver assemblies, meet with community members, or support younger students.

Sports

We offer a broad range of Sixth Form Sports and wellness activities - from badminton and table tennis to competitive netball and football tournaments, as well as mindfulness and wellbeing sessions.

Work Experience and Volunteering

Our dedicated Work Experience Week allows you to immerse yourself in a professional environment, helping you gain practical skills and insights to support your future career. Additionally, our diverse volunteering programme enables you to develop valuable life skills that will benefit you long after your time at Churchill.
