We respect that everyone needs to take care of their mental health and wellbeing and that some students may need more support.
If you are concerned about your child please do not hesitate to contact their Tutor or Head of House to discuss any additional support they may need. We can also provide you with a list of specialist services in the area.

Through various methods of psychotherapy and counselling, OK Talk works with young people to develop meaningful behavioural changes and learn coping strategies for navigating life’s struggles.

Self Harm
PAPYRUS Prevention of suicide in young people. If you are having thoughts of suicide or are concerned for a young person who might be you can contact HOPELINEUK for confidential support and practical advice. This is a specialist telephone service staffed by trained professionals who give non-judgemental support, practical advice and information to children, teenagers and young people up to the age of 35 who are worried about how they are feeling or anyone who is concerned about a young person. HOPELINEUK is free to call and free to text.
Stay Alive The Stay Alive app is a pocket suicide prevention resource, packed full of useful information to help you stay safe. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide. In addition the app includes a safety plan, customisable reasons for living, and a life box where you can store photos that are important to you.
Suicide Prevention Bristol Supportive listening service for anyone with thoughts of suicide. The Team use skills in crisis intervention to start a dialogue and to encourage more hopeful solutions than suicide. Work alongside local services and signpost people to where they can access support. In a life-threatening emergency, always dial 999 first. Calls to 0800 are free from landlines and mobiles in the UK.
Sexual Harassment

Childline is a specialised service for young people under 18 who have experienced childhood sexual abuse you can contact Childline on 0800 11 11.
The Greenhouse is a services for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.
Kinergy is a specialist counselling agency offering support for survivors of sexual abuse and sexual violence who live in Bristol, South Glos, BANES & North Somerset who provide trauma informed counselling, group therapy and a support group for survivors and their family / friends / partner. Kinergy is an inclusive charity offering support to all genders aged 16 and above.
Life Centre Support service for sexual trauma. A confidential helpline for survivors or supporters of rape and sexual abuse. Helpline, text and email services available nationally.
Safeline is a specialist charity for sexual abuse and rape. They offer counselling and support services for men, women and children who have been affected by sexual abuse and rape and for those around them who may also need support.
SARSAS: Somerset & Avon rape and sexual abuse support provides confidential and specialist support to people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Somerset, who have experienced rape or any kind of sexual assault or abuse at any time in their lives. SARSAS provide support and information through a helpline, 1-to-1 specialist support, counselling and e-support. Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free to call from landlines and mobile phones within the UK and do not appear on itemised bills. Survivors UK Support for men and young adults who have experienced sexual violation. The helpline web chat service is for adult young adults (13+) who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or adult sexual assault/rape, as well as their partners and carers. All information is kept confidential within the organisation.
The Survivors Trust The Survivors Trust has 120 member organisations based in the UK & Ireland which provide specialist support for women, men and children who have survived rape, sexual violence or childhood sexual abuse.

The Sleep Charity is a a national, award-winning charity empowering the nation to sleep better.
Substance Misuse
Bristol Drugs Project (BDP) is a charity providing harm reduction and treatment services to people experiencing problems with drugs or alcohol. With 35 years of experience, their goal is to support people towards independence from drugs and alcohol.
Catch 22 are specialists at providing targeted substance misuse services for young people and offer a truly holistic approach, putting the young person at the centre of the treatment to understand and address the factors driving behaviour and build their personal resilience.

Children and Young People's Resource Service We provide a social work service to looked after young people over 16 years of age. Support with accommodation issues, Training and education support, Financial support and benefits advice, Personal and emotional support.
Creative Youth Network A full programme of events available online including animation and spoken word workshops, wellbeing chats and their Proud to be LGBT+ group. They also offer 1:1 wellbeing support for young people.

HUBS In Worle. Drop in space on Wednesday 3.30 5.30 –OTR’s Hubs are a safe and relaxed space you can simply drop into for a chat – no appointments needed. They are there for you to meet our team and discover more about what we offer. You’ll find they are a great place to learn about mental health and self-care too.

SENDCAS Team @ The Firs and St Barnabas Resource Centre Activity Holiday Provision children aged 8 to 18 years which support independent skills, creating friendships and networks, supporting behaviour management and individual needs of children and young people that attend. The Buddy Scheme is designed to provide a service to children and young people with a wide range of complex, additional needs and is to support them in accessing out of school activities within their community. There are regular drop-in sessions for parents which take place at the two centres.
Shameless 11 - 17 - Body Image and Self-Esteem. Shameless is OTR’s group for anyone feeling impacted by issues around body image and low self-esteem. “Know your worth, find your power”.
Shout For 24/7 text support in a crisis
SilverCloud is an interactive online platform offering self-guided computerised Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy. The service is available for free to individuals who are not
receiving any other mental health support and who are registered with a GP in Bristol,
North Somerset, or South Gloucestershire.
Vita Minds If you or someone you know is suffering from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, excessive worry or low mood, then VitaMinds can help. VitaMinds works in partnership with the NHS to offer a range of short-term therapies to adults 16-years and over. VitaMinds is a FREE service and you don't need to visit a GP to get help.

Young Carers
The Children’s Society The Include service helps young carers, families and those who work with young carers. They can help you understand your rights as a young carer, introduce you to other young carers, advise you on different ways into education and employment.
KIDS provide support to young carers under the age of 18, whose lives are restricted in some way because they are supporting a person who is ill, has a disability, mental illness or misusing a substance. This could include a parent, sibling or close family member. This allows the young carer to take time out for themselves, socialise and cope with the demands placed on them as carers. The services also provides accessible links to youth counselling and other agencies who can give expert advice and information on all issues that affect young carers.
MHAP (Mental Health Awareness Portishead) Group We offer a friendly, welcoming space for carers who are supporting the wellbeing and mental health of young people. We will support each other by sharing experiences and information in an informal but confidential setting.
